the short version

Privacy

No cookies, no analytics, no ads, no tracking. The only personal thing this site ever asks for is your email address — and only if you choose to join the Sunday Letter.

The Sunday Letter

When you join, your email address is sent to Kit (kit.com), the service that stores the list and sends the letters. Kit acts on our behalf and only for that purpose. You first get an email asking you to confirm — nothing else is sent until you do.

Every letter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, and your address is removed from the list. Like most email services, Kit may note whether a letter was opened or a link in it was clicked; we use that only to see which letters help.

We keep your address for as long as you stay subscribed. We never sell it or share it with anyone else.

Videos

The videos come from YouTube, but nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. Then the video plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), and Google's privacy policy applies to that video.

Things kept in your browser

If you pick a light (morning, day, evening or night) or press “I'll try this tonight”, your browser remembers it in its local storage. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Everything else

Fonts and images are served from this site — no requests go to other companies while you read. Links to Amazon and YouTube take you to their sites, where their own policies apply. Like any website, our web host keeps short technical logs (such as IP address and the page requested) to keep the site safe and running.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted or object to its use, and you can complain to your data protection authority. The quickest way to reach us is to reply to any Sunday Letter.
